BMW Apple CarPlay activation is performed either via USB coding or cable coding. The type of activation available for your vehicle strongly depends on your BMW configuration, so please specify your VIN to see how the BMW CarPlay setup in your BMW or MINI works.
USB CarPlay Activation
The USB coding process will take up to 15 minutes. It will require you to save the coding file (that we send to you in an email) to a USB stick and connect it to your car. After following some easy instructions, the software will be activated and BMW Apple CarPlay will be available on your iDrive screen.
Cable CarPlay Activation
The coding cable CarPlay activation will be done during a remote coding session with our technician. It is a very simple process that takes no more than 30 minutes. After you complete your order, we send you a coding cable (if you don't have one). Once you receive it, you will be able to schedule a coding session for the time that suits you best. During the session, just plug in the cable, follow the instructions from our technician and Apple CarPlay will be unlocked.
